According to the Guardian, a new theatre is currently being built on top of The Remains of the only Shakespearian theatre that existed outside of England during Shakespeare's lifetime- in Gdansk. The new theatre wil soon be the home of Gdansk's annual Shakespeare festival.
Jerzy Limon commented: "During Shakespeare's time, competition between theatre companies was growing, and many actors found themselves unemployed. So they travelled." He added, "Historically, Gdansk was a miniature of the united Europe, an affluent society living in peace. The project is a symbol of England's contribution to European culture. Of Poland's, too."

The largest, organized annually by the international theatrical event is the Shakespearean Festival in Gdansk, whose history dates back to 1993. At that time, the Foundation organized the first Theatrum Gedanense Gdansk Shakespearean Days, then transformed into a festival, which since 2007 is jointly organized by both organizations.
